What do you need a Google Analytics alternative to do?
Start with a question you will act on. A founder selling through Stripe may need to know which campaign brought paid orders. A product team may need retention analysis and experimentation. Another organization may need to run its own analytics infrastructure. Those are different buying decisions.
GA4 remains a strong choice when your workflow depends on Google’s advertising ecosystem, audience features or detailed ecommerce events. Its standard offering is free. Zijra does not claim to cost less than free tools or replace every GA4 workflow.
Zijra focuses on traffic, goals, funnels and the revenue connected to collected activity. It is a hosted product for people who want that view without assembling a separate reporting pipeline. Persistent journeys and payment matching are optional, consent-gated layers above aggregate tracking.
Zijra vs GA4: two ways to answer the revenue question
GA4’s Ecommerce purchases report includes revenue metrics populated by ecommerce events. Those events need an implementation or a supported commerce integration; they are not automatically collected from every website. BigQuery is useful for advanced analysis, but it is not required just to see ecommerce revenue in GA4.
Zijra imports captured payments and succeeded refunds from an authorized Stripe account. Where valid consented checkout context or supported metadata links a payment to a collected visit, it can contribute to attribution. A payment without that link remains visible as unattributed; a missing link does not become a guessed customer journey.
| Decision | Zijra | Google Analytics 4 |
|---|---|---|
| Revenue input | Verified Stripe payment and refund records, with consented visit matching where available. | Ecommerce events and supported commerce integrations populate revenue reports. |
| Default collection | Cookieless aggregate tracking; persistent identity requires explicit consent. | Collection and consent behavior depend on your tags, consent configuration and integrations. |
| Free starting point | 10,000 events/month, one site, six months of detail; revenue, three goals and one funnel included. | The standard GA4 offering is free. It may be the better fit for an existing Google marketing workflow. |
| Developer access | API and MCP on paid plans, starting with Founder. | Google provides APIs and a BigQuery export workflow. |
| What to evaluate | Coverage of payment matching, event allowance, reporting timezone and plan gates. | Ecommerce implementation, reporting configuration and your privacy/advertising requirements. |
Seven analytics alternatives, with different strengths
This shortlist is a guide to product fit, not a ranking based on independent product testing. We build Zijra and have an interest in your choice. The other providers’ documentation is linked below so you can check the capabilities that matter to you.
| Tool | A reason to evaluate it | A question to check |
|---|---|---|
| Zijra | Hosted privacy-first analytics with native Stripe revenue attribution included from Free. | Can your checkout provide consented context, and does the included event allowance fit? |
| Plausible | Focused privacy-first website reporting with documented ecommerce revenue goals. | Which plan and revenue implementation match your website? |
| Pirsch | Privacy-focused web analytics with browser and server-side collection options. | Which plan, billable units and ecommerce event setup suit your workload? |
| DataFast | Revenue-focused website analytics and payment-provider connections. | Which payment provider, visitor features and commercial terms do you need? |
| Umami | Website analytics with documented revenue events and a self-hosting option. | Will you operate it yourself or use a hosted service, and how will you send revenue events? |
| PostHog | Product analytics with funnels, retention, paths and a broader product toolkit. | Do you need a product analytics platform rather than a focused website dashboard? |
| Matomo | An on-premise option for organizations that want to run analytics on their own servers. | Who will manage hosting, upgrades, security and the features you require? |
Cookieless tracking and payment attribution need separate decisions
Zijra starts with aggregate collection and no persistent visitor ID. That does not make every use anonymous or automatically exempt it from consent rules. Joining a visit to a Stripe payment can point to an identifiable customer through your merchant records.
Establish your lawful basis, explain the processing and collect valid consent before enabling Zijra’s persistent identity and attribution. A technical consent flag records your integration’s decision; it does not obtain consent for you. Review the privacy notice, DPA, sub-processors and your own site’s other tags and storage.
GA4’s consent mode communicates consent choices to Google tags; it does not replace the process of obtaining consent. Requirements vary by use and jurisdiction. Avoid choosing any analytics provider solely because a comparison table promises that a banner is never needed.
Compare definitions before you compare numbers
GA4 applies thresholding to some reports and dimensions, and some analysis can be sampled. That does not mean every GA4 report is sampled or that a small website automatically loses every useful row. Check the report’s data-quality indicators and Google’s documented conditions.
Zijra calculates report totals from the eligible records it collected. Privacy choices, blockers, collection pauses, known-bot filtering and missing payment context still affect coverage. Charts and totals can include more records than a bounded visitor-detail list. Daily historical rollups cannot recreate information that was not retained.
Different session definitions, timezones, currencies, filters and live/test settings can produce different totals even when both tools work correctly. Use Stripe payment and refund records to investigate a revenue discrepancy; Zijra’s net collected revenue is not a payout or accounting reconciliation report.
Revenue attribution is included from Free
Zijra measures allowances in events, including pageviews and tracked custom actions. It is not a pageview-only pricing model. Free includes one website, six months of full-detail history, three goals and one funnel. Individual journeys, API access and MCP start on paid plans.
Paid plans keep up to 13 months of full detail, then daily totals within their retention period. Extra-event collection depends on current Billing availability and your opt-in spending limit; if it is not enabled, collection pauses at the included allowance. See the pricing page for current checkout availability, site and seat limits, annual billing and spending controls.
| Plan | Monthly | Annual | Included events/month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 10,000 |
| Founder | $5 | $50 | 100,000 |
| Growth | $15 | $159 | 500,000 |
| Studio | $24 | $265 | 1,000,000 |
| Scale | $99 | $1,150 | 5,000,000 |
A careful way to switch from Google Analytics
- Save your real website domain and reporting timezone, then install the generated tracker once. Respect Do Not Track, Global Privacy Control and your consent manager.
- Verify that a fresh eligible pageview reaches your private report. The public demo is fictional and does not prove your own installation works.
- Connect your own Stripe account with the documented reporting permissions. Review consent and pass the supported checkout context before expecting payment attribution.
- Compare equivalent date ranges, currencies and payment environments. Investigate unassigned revenue and record differences instead of forcing the two tools to agree.
- Keep GA4 if you still need its audiences, advertising integrations or other reporting. Zijra’s documented imports accept supported Plausible exports and daily CSV aggregates; do not assume an automatic GA4 account migration.
When another tool is a better choice
Choose by requirements rather than an alternative’s headline. If you need session replay, A/B testing, advanced product retention analysis or multi-touch attribution modeling, review products that ship those capabilities. Zijra does include goals and funnels; those should not be confused with a full product analytics suite.
If on-premise hosting is mandatory, evaluate a self-hosted option. If zero software cost is the main goal, GA4 and other free offerings can cost less than a paid Zijra plan. If you need Paddle, Polar or Lemon Squeezy revenue today, Zijra’s current Stripe-only release will not meet that requirement.
